A few months ago I posted about my charity shop finds, and one of them was this teeny tiny picture frame. I really want to cross stitch or embroider something in it, but I am lacking in inspiration, so I need your help. Something funny or ironic would be quite good, or just a lovely little picture of something. I have no idea so give me some of yours!

In return I am offering a book from my stash Stitch & Sparkle by Charlotte Liddle. It’s cute little book with ideas for colourful accessories. My favourite project is the peg dollies, which you can customise with lots of different outfits with scraps of fabric and ribbons.

Anyone who comments on this post with an idea for my picture frame will be in with a chance. Follow my blog or follow me on Twitter (@dillytante) for extra entries (but leave a comment to let me know that you have done so). It’s a fairly small book so I’m happy to post anywhere. Make sure you leave a blog/email/Twitter address so I can contact you. I will have Betty draw a name out of the Peppa Pig bowl hat on Valentine’s Day, so channel your muse and get posting but Midnight 13th February. Oh, I will actually stitch the one I like best put it into the frame. The aperture of the frame is 4×5.5cm, so I need big ideas that are small in execution.

  1. How about a favourite (short) recipe? I imagine that would be quite a challenge… perhaps a picture of a cake… or a list of a few favourite small things. As in: ‘Books, my cat, cooking, fresh flowers, candles and letters. These are a few of my favourite things’

    Or something 🙂

  2. If you were to put a photo in it, then I’d say a photo of your family, just your faces, all squashed together, all of you squeezing into a tiny frame
For embroidery,If you had a bigger frame as well you could do an oak tree in the big frame and an acorn in the little frame. Or if you have just the dinky one then a big old oak tree in a tiny wooden frame.
Best I can manage on a Thursday afternoon, more tea needed I think 🙂

  3. One of your crochet butterflies? Or a crochet flower? Or a picture of one of your yarn bombing expolits! Or a sillhouette picture, (did you see the ones I did, really easy) Or an os map of where you live but cut into a heart shape and mounted.

  4. What aaaabout the coordinates of a significant place in your life. It’s very simple and probably not at all pretty, but I like things that have a little bit of heart.

  5. I was also going to say one of your lovely little butterflies, but if you’re a bit butteflied out, could you do some ladybirds crawling across the frame? Or what about a embroidered version of a little person’s footprint?

Seeing as it ends on 14th Feb, could you embroider a short poem or saying in the shape of a heart (so the lettering goes round and round in on itself, all squirly like)? Whatever you end up doing, it’s bound to be more than “an okay job” 🙂

  6. How about the opening line of your favourite book? That could be very pretty – and also would capture a very big idea in a very small space. 🙂

Whichever idea you choose, I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished result.

  7. Have tweeted this! What a nifty idea. I think signifcant dates – marriage, children’s birth dates. Though that may be a little fiddly. Otherwise a family of owls on a branch (I am going through an owl obsession at the moment so feel free to ignore me!).
